Leaking shower? Call an emergency plumber immediately

March 28th, 2011

There’s some jobs in and around your bathroom that you could decide to put off from sorting out – but a leaking shower should never be one of them. Unlike a relatively minor problem such as a dripping tap, a leaking shower – or bath, for that matter – requires immediate attention, in most cases from an emergency plumber. In many cases, this type of problem is caused by movement in the fitting, meaning your first task should be to ensure that the fittings are secure and there is little movement. If you are unsure, it’s always better to be safe than sorry and call out a professional to give it a once-over. In the case of leaking baths, the material your tub is made from will make a difference when it comes to working out the best course of action. With a steel bath, you can remove the bath panel and secure to the wall through the under-hanging bath lip. You should also check that the feet are screwed firmly to the base.If you’ve got a plastic bath, then you will need a number of materials to secure your bath. First you’ll need to get hold of some timber supports , which will need to be plugged and screwed to the end of the bath. Each support will need plenty of strong construction glue to fix it to the wall.If securing the shower or bath doesn’t stem the leak then the problem is likely to be more complex and it may be time to call in a professional. If you haven’t got the right type of insurance, this could be a costly thing to do –just getting a tradesman out and into your home usually incurs a fee. Then there’s the labour, parts and unforeseen costs to think about. Before you know it, that small leak around your shower or bath could have turned into a major headache – in more ways than one.On the other hand, getting plumbing insurance will mean that you don’t have to worry about the size of the bill, as it will be covered by your monthly premiums. For many households, this is offering peace of mind at a time when they need it most. With the cost of living rising, few of us can afford a hefty plumbing repair bill at the moment – which is why getting plumbing cover could be the smartest thing you’ll do all year.

Under Floor Heating Installers Liverpool

August 24th, 2010

We are Specialist Under Floor Heating Instaaler in Liverpool Merseyside.

Below is some of Reason why Wet Underfloor Heating systems are Superior to Radiators, better heat output, cost less to run at a lower allr ound temperature.

here are just a few benefits of underfloor heating versus conventional radiator heating:-

  • Underfloor heating means you can enjoy constant warmth in your rooms
  • Conventional radiator systems create heat that rises upwards before descending to the floor; this makes the head feel hot and stuffy while your feet remain cold
  • Underfloor heating will not circulate foreign air particles (dust) around the room so reduces the symptoms for allergy sufferers
  • Underfloor heating is more energy efficient, saves space, and is healthier
  • Underfloor heater requires a lower temperature so your heating bills will be reduced -
    SAVING YOU MONEY!

Benefits of Warm Water Underfloor Heating

Warm water underfloor heating works with any heat source that produces warm water. Since warm water is much cheaper to produce than hot water the result in fuel savings is at least 30%. However, the efficiency of a warm water system is slightly higher than an electric system because with warm water floor heating, the boiler water temperature can be set to a relatively low temperature whereas with an electric system, overall efficiency is lower because electricity must be generated.

The most notable benefit is that heating water through the boiler is far more cost effective than heating with electricity. With domestic fuel bills forever rising, this means that your warm water floor heating will save you a small fortune compared with electric underfloor heating since your bills will be further reduced.

What room(s) can be heated with underfloor heating?

As a general idea, you can install underfloor heating into your bathroom, bedroom, conservatory, dining room, extension, garage conversion, hallway, kitchen, living room / lounge, loft conversion, renovation, shower room, study, utility room - pretty much anywhere you can think of that needs invisible, efficient and effective heating!

What type(s) of floor constructions can be used with underfloor heating?

Our warm water underfloor heating solutions are compatible with all types of floor construction, including screed and solid floors, suspended joist floors and timber floor types - read more about our floor solutions. We also offer a large range of panel solutions that allow installation of the system over the floor surface.

What type(s) of floor covering can be used with underfloor heating?

Our warm water underfloor heating systems are compatible with almost all types of floor covering, including carpeted floors, wood flooring, tiles, ceramic floors, vinyl floors and plastic flooring.

What type(s) of heat sources can be used with underfloor heating?

Our warm water underfloor heating works with any heat source that produces warm water. Warm water is much cheaper to produce than hot water - resulting in fuel savings of at least 30%. The most common heat sources now available in the UK are High efficiency Gas and Oil boilers which can be used in the most economical condensing mode all of the time.

  • Oil Central heating boilers
  • Gas central heating boilers
  • Wood Pellet
  • Biomass
  • Wood burners
  • Solar
  • Rayburns and Agas
  • Heat pumps: Ground , Water and Air source

What are the boiler/heat source requirements?

Sizing of the heat source to the Under floor heating should be undertaken by a competent heating engineer who holds a current Energy efficiency certificate. There are many factors involved in sizing the appliance not just the under floor outputs.

All buildings that have been constructed or upgraded to current building standards should only require 50 watts/m². Therefore to find the required output for your boiler Multiply the Total floor areas x 0.05 + 10% for margin + Domestic hot water requirement.

Unless full heat loss calculations have been commissioned, Wundafloor calculates the floor outputs to Harmonised European Standard BS EN 1264-2 and in most types of floor construction exceeds the 50W/m². For example solid floors with ceramic tiles, at 45°C mean water temperature, 200mm pipe spacing’s, 20°C air temp will produce 115 w/m².
